Two new PNPs for Skilled Workers launched by Saskatchewan

On August 30, 2024, the Government of Saskatchewan introduced two new Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). These new programs, the Agriculture Talent Pathway and the Health Talent Pathway, aim to attract skilled workers to meet the province's growing needs in the agriculture and healthcare sectors.

Agriculture Talent Pathway

To be eligible to apply under SINP’s Agriculture Talent Pathway, candidates must:

  • Have a minimum CLB 4 in language tests.
  • Complete high school or higher education.
  • Have either one year of full-time work experience in your intended job within the last three years, or six months (780 hours) of full-time work with the employer who gave you the job offer. This work doesn’t have to be continuous.
  • Show your intention to live and work in Saskatchewan.
  • Have a permanent, full-time job offer in Saskatchewan’s agriculture sector.

Eligible Occupations

NOC 75101 - Material handlers
NOC 85101 - Harvesting labourers
NOC 85103 - Nursery and greenhouse labourers
NOC 94204 - Mechanical assemblers and inspectors
NOC 95106 - Labourers in food and beverage processing

Health Talent Pathway

The eligibility criteria for SINP's Health Talent Pathway differ based on whether you’re in the federal Express Entry pool, but some conditions apply to both:

  • You must be eligible for Saskatchewan licensing (if needed).
  • Have relevant post-secondary education for the job offer, such as a master’s, bachelor’s, or a two- or three-year diploma or degree.
  • Show intent to live and work in Saskatchewan.

For those not in Express Entry:

  • Must have at least CLB 5 in English/French.
  • Must have six months (780 hours) of full-time work in Saskatchewan with the employer who issued the Job Approval Letter, or one year of relevant work experience in the last five years.

For Express Entry candidates:

  • Must have a valid Express Entry profile and Job Seeker Code.
  • Must have CLB 7 in English/French.
  • Must have one year of skilled work experience in the last five years in the intended occupation (if applying from outside Canada).

NOC 30010 - Managers in healthcare
NOC 32112 - Dental technologists and technicians
NOC 32101 - Licensed practical nurses
NOC 32100 - Opticians
NOC 31103 - Veterinarians

Saskatchewan’s Immigration and Career Training Minister, Jeremy Harrison, announced the new pathways as part of a broader strategy to address labour shortages across the province. He emphasized that creating additional immigration pathways and improving credential recognition processes will help employers in Saskatchewan find the workforce they need to grow their businesses.
