Quebec To Accept Over 1 Lakh Study Permit Applications

Quebec has announced a cap on international student applications under the Foreign Student Program. It will be effective from February 26, 2025, to February 26, 2026 and the province will accept a maximum of 124,760 study permit applications.

This cap applies to all new study permit applications received after February 26, 2025, and is designed to regulate enrollment while maintaining educational excellence. The Government of Quebec has outlined the allocation of applications across various educational institutions:

Exceptions to the Cap

To accommodate special cases, Quebec has outlined exceptions for:

• Applications submitted before February 26, 2025
• Students extend their stay within the same vocational training program at their current institution
• Dependent children of temporary foreign workers or students residing in Quebec
• Primary and secondary school applicants
• Individuals applying for protection under specific provisions of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
• Professionals in the health sector undertaking prescribed supplementary training
• Students under the Excellence Scholarship Program for Foreign Students.
