The most recent draw by Prince Edward Island increases the total number of invites to 1194, under its EOI mechanism
On August 19, the Province of Prince Edward Island (PEI) held its usual monthly immigration draw. Through the Provincial Nominee Program, the province welcomed a total of 161 immigration candidates (PNP). The majority of invites, 152, were sent to Express Entry and Labour Impact applicants. Business Impact applicants were allotted the remaining nine invites. It was given to those Business Impact applicants who had at least 72 points under the immigration system of the province. This is Canada's coastal province's ninth draw of the year, increasing the total number of invites granted this year to 1,194.
PNPs enable Canada's provinces and territories to choose immigration applicants who satisfy their labour market requirements. This is the case of Prince Edward Island, which runs the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) under the federally authorized criteria. The next draw for the PEI PNP is scheduled for September 16, 2021.
The PEI PNP Express Entry Category is an upgraded version of the PNP program. Only those candidates who have a profile in the system will be considered under this stream. Express Entry is a service that manages immigration applications. It processes applications for three economic immigration programs namely the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class. CRS score is used as a parameter to check the eligibility of Candidates. It is assigned to eligible candidates based on their age, job experience, education, and language ability in English or French.

Express Entry candidates who obtain a provincial nomination earn 600 points added to their CRS score and are virtually assured an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in the next Express Entry draw. In order to become eligible under PEI PNP, Express Entry applicants must create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with them. EOI profiles are given points based on the unique points grid system of provinces. The top scorers are then asked to apply through monthly draws.
The Labour Impact Category is for foreign people with a legitimate work offer in Prince Edward Island under the employer assistance program. There are three major categories under the Labour Impact Category i.e., Skilled Worker, Critical Worker, and International Graduate. To be considered for a provincial nomination under the Labour Impact Category, candidates must submit an Expression of Interest.
Candidates filing their applications under the Business Impact Category must satisfy the minimum provincial score criteria. Every draw has a different score. The latest invitations made by PEI were under the work permit stream. This stream is mainly for foreign entrepreneurs who wish to own and manage a business on this Canadian island.
