Ontario issued a total of 283 invitations in the latest provincial draw. Immigrants were invited with the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores between 466 and 467 points held on February 2.
Applicants invited by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) may be eligible for the Human Capital Priorities (HCP) Express Entry stream. This Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) gives foreign workers - with specialized work experience - the opportunity to settle permanently in Ontario. In turn, the skills that immigrants bring through the PNP are filling Ontario's labor market shortages.
OINP has invited express entry candidates in this latest draw to apply for a provincial nomination if they have work experience in one of the following 10 occupations:

Invited candidates were required to have a minimum of one year of work experience in any one of the above-mentioned occupations. These candidates are not yet applying for permanent residence, they are applying for a provincial nomination, which will effectively guarantee them a chance to apply for Canadian immigration in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
Express Entry is an application management system for three federal immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Express Entry applicants are eligible for one of these programs.
Once in the Express Entry pool of candidates, the Department of Immigration, IRCC, awards points to applicants based on their human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, language skills in English or French, and other factors.
A PNP appointment automatically gives Express Entry applicants an additional 600 points. Since most Express Entry draws require applicants to achieve scores within the 400s, applicants who receive the nomination are in a good position to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian Permanent Residence in a draw. subsequent Federal Express Entry.
Ontario PNP has invited a total of 6,716 express entry candidates last year through its Human Capital Priorities Stream. This was the largest proportion of all Express Entry PNP applications issued by Ontario in 2020.
