Recently, the government of NLPNP has successfully negotiated an increase of 1,000 nominations for its 2025 PNP. This brings its total allocation for the year to 2,050.

An Overview of the NLPNP

NLPNP (Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program) is a provincial immigration program that allows Newfoundland and Labrador to nominate individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada and who meet specific economic and labor market needs of the province.

Through the NLPNP, skilled workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs with the qualifications and experience targeted by the province can apply for permanent residency more efficiently. The program operates in coordination with the federal immigration system.

Features of New EOI

On February 19, 2025, the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism introduced a new Expression of Interest (EOI) Model for all economic immigration applications.

  • All applicants must first submit an EOI through the Immigration Accelerator platform.
  • For applicants using the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) or NLPNP and residing outside Canada, an invite code from a prospective employer is required to submit the EOI.
  • NLPNP applicants already in Canada with valid temporary status are not required to obtain an invite code.
  • EOIs are valid for 12 months from the date of submission and can be selected at any time during that period. However, submitting an EOI does not guarantee an ITA.

If selected, the applicant has 60 days to submit their NLPNP application (or for their employer to submit an AIP application). Receiving an ITA does not ensure approval. All applicants must still meet the full requirements of their respective immigration program.
