The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee (NBPNP) has opened applications for the two new pathways from March 5, 2025. Eligible newcomers can now submit Expressions of Interest (EOIs) under two immigration pathways of the NBPNP.
These pathways, aligned with the Express Entry system, provide skilled workers with an opportunity to obtain permanent residency in Canada. The NBPNP has officially opened application intake for the following two streams:
The NBPNP has implemented significant modifications to eligibility requirements for these pathways, including:
These updates come after a substantial reduction in New Brunswick’s provincial nomination allocation, prompting adjustments to its immigration programs. The NBPNP also clarified that EOIs submitted through these pathways will not be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
The selection criteria for invitations under these streams differ, with additional factors influencing the likelihood of receiving a provincial nomination. The eligibility criteria are mentioned in the table below:
Pathway | Summary of differentiating eligibility criteria |
Employment in New Brunswick | - Have been living in New Brunswick and working full-time for a New Brunswick employer for the past 12 consecutive months. |
New Brunswick Interests | - Have received a letter of interest from ImmigrationNB in their federal Express Entry profile; and - Have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time work experience within the past 10 years. |
Regardless of the stream, all candidates must have the following eligibility:
New Brunswick will not consider candidates in the following occupations for nomination:
Job Title | NOC Code |
Accounting technicians and bookkeepers | 12200 |
Administrative assistants | 13110 |
Bakers | 63202 |
Cooks | 63200 |
Food service supervisors | 62020 |
Restaurant and food service managers | 60030 |
Retail and wholesale trade managers | 60020 |
Retail sales supervisors | 62010 |
The evolving immigration policies of New Brunswick PNP reflect the province’s commitment to attracting skilled workers who will contribute to its economy and workforce. Meeting all eligibility requirements increases a candidate’s chances of receiving an invitation.
March 5 will mark the first intake to these pathways in 2025 after the NBPNP made significant changes to its immigration streams. For all aspiring immigrants who are interested, it is recommended to assess eligibility and prepare a strong EOI submission to maximize their chances.
