Exciting news for families looking to reunite in Canada!
The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has just announced updates to the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) this fall. This program is set to help even more families come together in the Great White North.
Starting on October 10, 2023, IRCC will begin sending invitations to apply to 24,200 interested potential sponsors, aiming to receive up to 15,000 complete applications. This means more families have a chance to bring their parents and grandparents to Canada.
If you are invited to apply as part of the 2023 intake, IRCC will continue to use the Permanent Residence Portal or the Representative Permanent Residence Portal, which allows applications to be submitted electronically.

Every year, the IRCC sets out its Immigration Levels Plan to guide its operations. Under the Canada Immigration Level Plans for 2023-2025, Canada aims to welcome 465,000 new permanent residents, with a specific goal of bringing in 28,500 parents and grandparents. Looking ahead to 2025, the target is even higher - 500,000 newcomers, including 36,000 parents and grandparents.
The updates to Canada's Parents and Grandparents Program and the availability of the Super Visa provide excellent opportunities for candidates wanting to immigrate to Canada with family. With simpler processes and higher immigration targets, Canada remains committed to welcoming families from all over the world.
