The Canadian government has released a list of some of the hotels that are allowed to accommodate international air travelers for the mandatory quarantine requirement.
As of February 22, international air travelers to Canada must take a COVID-19 test upon arrival. They must then wait for the results of this test at a government-approved facility for up to three days.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau previously announced the new measure to stop the spread of the coronavirus in January. At that time, he estimated the cost to travelers would be around $ 2,000.
But according to reports published by the Canadian press, the actual cost for travelers is much lower. Two hotels at Toronto Pearson International Airport say their mandatory quarantine programs range from $ 319 to $ 339 for a single person. The Calgary Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel would cost $ 1,272 plus tax, which includes food for three days and security.

What are the latest quarantine requirements for travelers?
Before leaving for Canada, air travelers must provide a COVID-19 test to board the plane. Travelers will be tested again for coronavirus after they have arrived in Canada. Under the new measure, which takes effect on February 22, these travelers must wait for their test results at one of the aforementioned government-approved hotels.
Once they get the results, they are responsible for carrying out the remainder of the mandatory 14-day quarantine at their home. From there, they're supposed to take another COVID-19 test in the final days of their quarantine. Test kits and instructions will be provided before travelers leave the airport.
