The BC PNP Tech Pilot has been rebranded as BC PNP Tech and is now a permanent immigration stream. It was initially introduced in 2017. It is a list of 29 target occupations with flexible time requirements (as given below).
Beginning in May 2017, BC PNP draws aimed just at technology personnel. The province has a thriving technology sector, with some of the world's most well-known technology companies headquartered in Canada's westernmost province.
Invitations are distributed weekly through the province's tech program to the highest-scoring applicants who meet the qualifying requirements.
Candidates who are requested to submit an application for a provincial nomination must do so within the stipulated time frame. The majority of technology applications will thereafter be processed within two to three months.
If approved, candidates will get a nomination confirmation letter from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which may be used to apply for permanent residence through the Provincial Nominee Program Class. PNP applicants obtain 600 points for their Comprehensive Ranking System score, and so have a very good chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence via Express Entry.
