Apply for Nova Scotia PNP without a Job offer

Nova Scotia is one of Canada's most popular destinations for immigrants from all around the world. It has an excellent infrastructure, job possibilities, and a high level of living for its citizens.

If you want to migrate to Nova Scotia, you can do so through the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program. It follows the same selection criteria as the Express Entry Program. The sole distinction is that the province has the right to choose individuals from a pool of applicants for the program.

The Nova Scotia PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) selects candidates based on criteria such as age, academic level, language competency, and the job offer. The immigration program only accepts individuals who can demonstrate that they are competent employees capable of filling holes in the province's economy.

The most challenging barrier to obtaining permanent residency under the Provincial Nominee Program is getting an employment offer. You can, however, apply for the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) even if you do not have a job offer.

Various streams in Nova Scotia PNP let you apply for the program:

  • International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream
  • Skilled Worker Stream
  • Nova Scotia Experience Express Entry Program
  • Nova Scotia Demand Express Entry Program

Only Nova Scotia Demand Express Entry allows you to apply for Nova Scotia PNP without a job offer.

A candidate can apply for permanent residency in Canada under one of two categories under Nova Scotia Demand Express Entry. There are two categories i.e., Category A and Category B. Those in Category A have a genuine employment offer while category B candidates are those without a job offer but with relevant experience in the potential occupation.

If you don't have a job offer but still want to apply for the Nova Scotia PNP, you can do so under Category B. All you need is appropriate job experience and sufficient funds to settle in the province.

To regulate the entry of immigrants through this stream, the stream is projected to open and close throughout the year.

Keep in mind that the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration reserves the right to evaluate specific employment categories based on actual labour market demands.

The Nova Scotia PNP Point Calculator lists many qualifying requirements that you must meet to apply for Category B of the Nova Scotia Demand Express Entry Program:

  • You should have prior experience in one of the jobs listed in the Nova Scotia Demand Express Entry Guide.
  • You must have a profile registered with the Express Entry Program of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada.
  • You must score 67 points out of a possible 100 on the Express Entry Program Score Grid.
  • You must have at least one year of competent work experience in the occupation of your choice.
  • You must have a Canadian high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • You must have demonstrated language proficiency in either English or French at Canadian Language Benchmark 7.
  • To effectively settle in Nova Scotia, you must have sufficient financial means.

The first step would be to apply for permanent residence in Canada under the Express Entry Program. On their website, you may create an Express Entry profile. Enter all of your personal information, such as age, education, and job experience. You will be sent a registration code once you have finished the profile. Keep it safe since you will need it when applying for immigration to Nova Scotia.

In one of your Express Entry profile components, you will be asked where you wish to live in Canada. Make sure you select Nova Scotia in this section because your application will catch the eye of Nova Scotia immigration agents when they search the Express Entry Pool.

If your application is found to be suitable based on the CRS Calculator, you will be requested to create a profile on the Nova Scotia Immigration website. It would be best if you input all of your personal information accurately here as well.

The CRS Calculator will evaluate and rate your application after you have completed your profile. You will be eligible to apply for Nova Scotia immigration if you get at least 67 points on the assessment.

If your immigration application is approved, Nova Scotia Immigration will give you a PNP. This will enable you to be chosen for immigration in the next Express Entry draw.

Suppose you are chosen for immigration in the draw and obtain an ITA. In that case, you will have 90 days to apply for Permanent Residency (PR) in Canada and another year to relocate there.

Certain vocations are in great demand in this area. If you are applying for the Nova Scotia PNP, ensure that your job experience and occupation fall within the categories selected by the Nova Scotia Occupation in Demand List. This list is updated on an annual basis based on labour market need. As a result, it is critical to stay informed.
