French Language Proficiency Draws in 2025

Canada has introduced category-based Express Entry draws targeting French-speaking candidates to promote Francophone immigration outside Quebec. These draws support the government's goal of strengthening French-speaking communities.

These draws prioritize candidates with strong French language skills, even if their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is lower than general Express Entry draws. To qualify for a French proficiency draw, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum score of 7 in all four abilities (reading, writing, listening, and speaking).
  • Candidates must be eligible under one of the Express Entry programs - the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, or the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
  • Work experience, education, and adaptability factors can further strengthen a candidate’s profile.

French-speaking candidates benefit from additional CRS points, making them more competitive in the Express Entry system. This initiative is part of Canada's strategy to enhance Francophone immigration and promote bilingualism outside Quebec.

Currently, 80% of Canada PR applications under the Express Entry program are being processed within 6 months.
